Update or just another rumour ICS imminent

May 3rd, 2012

Yet another rumour or possibly something with a bit more substance to it. Now we all know the rumour that certain Motorola device are earmarked for a major droid update the devices in question are the Motorola XOOM tablets and the Razr and Razr Maxx. Now for the rumour somebody has leaked an internal test report on the above devices with the ICS update, you can easily find in with a bit of fine tuning web browsing.

In the report it clearly shows that the testing phase it almost complete for both Motorola Razr devices and should be rolled out by the 21st of May as for the Xoom tablets there is no definitive final release date but in the grand scheme of things it wont be too logn after the release of Razr Maxx. The reason as to why this story still has legs is evidently just one more way to get Motorola owners jacked up wiht expectation and to a lesser degree new or wannabe owners for Motorola devices to get their hands on Android 4.0.  Hope it works ok, just joking!

Another update for Motorola but wheres ICS ?

April 23rd, 2012

It comes as no surprise that if you’re a Motorola Droid Razr MAXX user you must be tearing your hair out waiting on the ICS android system update, well if it’s any consolation Verizon and Motorola have released a gingerbread update that will according to web sources contain some nice little upgrade including maybe an improvement in battery although it has tom be said the Razr MAXX has a pretty good life anyway but a little more can’t hurt.

It’s the one biggest drawback a lot of 4G phones have is that their power hungry. So what else will be in the updates well like with any upgrade or service pack its an industry standard that there will be bug fixes and a few tweaks on performance along the lines of what I mentioned  earlier  to do with battery life, also better Wi-fi access.

Its not what you say but how you says Google CEO not concerned with Android

April 13th, 2012

Could be trash talk but Google CEO L. Page is playing it cool when asked about the slow uptake on Android devices, while the Android has risen in the ranks its still not breaking the bank in regards to sale. The Google CEO says that talk of Androin slow up take is to paraphrase is short sighted and does take in the bigger picture. Newspaper articles have hinted that google links to Android might be changing but thats just hearsay, it is interesting that Google generate more revenue for Apple Iphone than the Android platform which is ironic.

The slant that google CEO is trying to put out there is that innovation take time and the Android platform is constanly evolving it remains to be seen how long it will be before it becomes a real contender. Some may argue that its time has come and phone like the Smasung Galaxy are as good as its goign to get, if only they could get the upgrades to 4.0 more people would get the chance to a more informed choice.

The great Iphone cost myth good or bad for carriers

March 27th, 2012

There’s a very interesting story on quite a few sites about how the Iphone is or isn’t have a detrimental affect on sales for the top companies. This all stems from a story that was reported quite a while ago to do with the U.S. head of T-Mobile lamenting the fact that subsidising cost on expensive on phones for consumers is eroding the cell business. His reasoning was hiding the real cost of a device like an Iphone for example for the user says a two year contract, can attribute to a loss in revenue with the user opting for a new device after the contract has run its course. He mentions that if people new the true cost fo the phone they would be unlikely to dispose of the phone so quickly.

Which to my mind is a bit rich, their selling the phones its up to them to set the price not us (plus T-Mobile – Iphone=sourgrapes).
So where does this leave us ? Well, in a pretty good situation really if phone companies want to subsidise for us to reel us into their contracts well great. Why pay initially up to $640 plus where a two year contract is only $200 its a no brainer. That does not include the Android market and according to other reports there is an appreciable reduction in price as well. Now if the big carriers are giving us and taking a hit on the cost of the device, how are they making a profit, of course its data and broadband and the costs all tied up in that contract. Give with one hand take with the other. Nothing is free.

XYBOARD spillproof for stupid people who cant hold their drink properly

March 9th, 2012

Now I have heard it all this really does push the limits of marketing a bit too far in my opinion. Motorola have re-released two of the XYBOARD tablets to coincide with St Patrick day. So where’s the beef why the negative waves Moriarty I’ll tell you why, its supposedly spill proof so if your out and about on the glorious day and happen to be stupid enough to bring your XYBOARD with you and spill your drink on it will still work.

Good idea to make the tablet spill proof and it will be good for outdoor types as well, bad idea to link with St Patrick day and the whole yay we’re Irish and we like to get drunk and spill alcohol everywhere. Not impressed with that guys not one bit hijack and take the piss out of your own culture before you do it to somebody else’s see where that’s gotten you. Anyway rant over, these devices apart from being spill proof do not have 4G there are the wifi types only.

February 17th, 2012

A little bit of sad users for all you Motorola cell phone and device users. News from the web is reporting that their will not be getting any upgrade to Android 4.0 otherwise known by its dessert name Ice Cream Sandwich on lot of Motorola until the summer at the earliest and to make the news even worse this will be on the following device which to be honest is a bit of a bummer but who knows it might be worth the wait.

motorolaandroid

If your state side and own a Xoom your in luck. The following devices will hopefully get the update later on in the year, Xoom Family Edition, Atrix 4G, Photon 4G, Xoom 2, XYBoard,. Verizon Motorola Cell Phone the new Motorola 4 coming to you soon

February 9th, 2012

The newest member of the Android family form Verizon has grown a factor of one with the release of the Motorola Droid 4, its lineage being the Razr followed by the Maxx. Reports and some sites that have managed to get their hands of a show model have reported some big improvements and nice tech that might give some other big cell phone companies a wake up call. So what’s the big deal what ahas the phone actual got well for one thing it has keyboard that slides out the back, nothing new but the keyboard seemingly has full five rows.

motoroladroid4

The addition of a slide out qwerty keyboard makes the phone obviously thicker which isn’t a big deal although its noted that the screen is bigger and the whole phone is five inches in height and half an inch thicker certainly bigger that most smart cell phones. Another question to consider is why have a qwerty keyboard when there’s one already built into the phone already. My answer to this is short and sweet, why not. The phone also comes with 4G Long Term Evolution and this does not disappoint the download rate is high and fast. The camera is nice takes good video and snap are processed quickly. One last thing to note is that there is talk of a possible upgrade from the gingerbread os to ice cream sandwich operating system and to you and me who live on planet earth that’s Android 2.3.5 to Android Version 4.0.

Verizon Motorola Cell Phones Droid Razr Maxx yeah alright wooh

February 3rd, 2012

Just released a few days ago Motorola has released one monster of cell phone called the Motorola Droid Razr Maxx with two x’s that’s one hell of a cool name worth the price of the cell phone alone, stand back everybody and take a breath this is an impressive cell phone. Verizon Motorola Cellphone and what a cell phone it is well what do you get for hard earned money. Well for starters there is the question of size the phone its bigger than its predecessor the Droid Razr (no max in the title that’s the clue). So bigger is better right, well in this case yes its thicker for starters. So what else ? Well there’s the battery by all accounts its bigger better and faster than most and it does sacrifice size for more power unlike other ones.

razrmaxx

According to reports under testing conditions it can last over sixteen hours on 3g not bad that’s call time people, ok what about on the funky buzzword 4g LTE Long Term Evolution never get tired of saying that well again if you start cranking out audio over 4g it should last over six hours. Ok moving on the phone is pretty much similar to the old Verizon Motorola Cell phone Razr. Its has some cool user interface features and but horror of horrors its missing the latest Android operating system, go on guess what it is without looking it up, no? Ok its called “Ice Cream Sandwich” basically its Android 4.0. Anyway enough of that back to the phone itself at the beginning of the article it was mentioned about the improved battery here’s some lovely geek facts for you the original Verizon Motorola Cell phone Razr had just under 2800mAh but the Razr has improved that quite considerably with over 3000mAh and more. Tie up this with a large screen and good signal quality not a bad phone for your buck please check back on Verizon Motorola Cell Phone for more news.
